member since: 2/13/2003 We're planning a Thanksgiving Eve service at our church next month. Anyone else? Maybe we can exchange ideas. I'll start... One year we gave out pre-stamped 'thank you' postcards to the congregation and, after some teaching, had them respond by sending a thank you postcard to someone in their life. THe internet was set up so they sould look up addresses and sen the postcards that night. Your ideas?

member since: 2/13/2003 We had our Thanksgiving Service on Wed. night last year and it went pretty good. As people were coming in I played a worship video "Lord I Lift Your Name on High". We usually have a time of testimony for people to give thanks for what God has done in their lives. I usually ask 1-2 people ahead of time just to get the ball rolling with that. Then last year we had them bring their "offering of thanksgiving" written on a piece of paper and they brought it forward and put it in the offering plate while a worship video played. The reason I used so many videos is we usually don't have alot of people available to play in the band for that service and we usually blend some praise and worship with hymns and it seems to work well. Hope this helps. Blessings, SherBerr

member since: 9/24/2004 We did a comparable service to yours, SherBerr. Only the congregation's "offering of thanksgiving" was put in the offering plate that was left at the cross. (We have a large wooden Cross as the "center-piece" of our stage set-up) And the song "Thank You, Lord" by Don Moen, was a great "response" song during our musical worship time.
