I look at it a little more broadly. The same with Christmas...any song that talks about Christ coming to the earth, etc. can be a great Christmas song. Any song that talks about praising/thanking God can be a Thanksgiving song. Here's our set list for this Wednesday: http://practicalworship.blogspot.com/ - Nate |

"Wanna Say Thank You" by Mary Rice Tompkins, of all people! Great song! Also, "To God Be The Glory", "We Will Remember" by Tommy Walker (LOVE that one!). I also did "Undo" as a solo to introduce it followed by "Amazing Love (You Are My King)", played in the same key with no stop in the music as a congregational song to put in a time of confession and accepting of forgiveness. While not "thanksgiving" in nature, it made me stop and give thanks purely and from a humble heart at home and it seemed to have a similar effect on the congregation. It wasn't like the alter was full or anything, but it was silent for a bit. We haven't done "Amazing Love" in a really long time, so it was as if it was sung anew at our church. We had a good service from the music to the preaching. Of course, a couple of people were absent... :) |

We're doing "Our God Saves", "All the Earth will sing Your Praises", "King of Glory", "Doxology" and "Heart of Worship" - I like the way the songs tie into each other, and I love the old hymns - I plan on doing "Doxology" in a quieter, more worshipful way to lead into Heart of Worship - and all that we have to give thanks for...is from above :-) |

Some songs we're considering are Paul Baloche's new songs "How Great is the Love" and "You Have Saved Us." Or the song "Because of Your Love." Last year we did Lincoln Brewster's "For These Reasons." Also the song, "This is How We Know" by Matt Redman. |

"We Will Remember" by Tommy Walker is one I had not heard until reading this post, and it's outstanding for any type of church. Approachable for a congregation to sing as well. Great stuff, good recommendation.
Brad Pribbenow has a nice version of "We Gather Together" that we've done several times and goes very well. Look it up on iTunes. |
