WT: What are some of the things God has been doing in your concerts and times of worship?
Martin Smith: There have been so many gigs and concerts and times of worship over the last 5 years, it's hard to remember. There are so many highlights that stick out. I remember one time we prayed for a girl that came in a wheelchair. We said, "If you have faith for it, stand up." Amazingly she did and went home with the wheelchair in the back of the car. Her dad came to collect her from the meeting and she ran into his arms. He couldn't believe it. As far as we understand, she is still walking to this day. That was the most incredible sight to see.
When we were in Belfast this time around, I remember someone had a broken arm healed. They went to have an x-ray at the doctor. As far as we know, that was another genuine miracle. She [was] able to use her arm again. [There are] loads of other things. I think just the freedom of a whole generation realizing that they can be themselves in church and in times of worship. They can express themselves in dance and drama. That has been exciting for us to watch during what we have been doing. People realize that they can be themselves and see God move. It's been incredible.
WT: Does the phrase "Worship Evangelism" hold special meaning for you considering what God has been doing through your music? Do you see "Worship Evangelism" as a special calling for you as a band?

Deliriou5? was born in 1996 but their story really starts in 1994 with a youth service and a worship band both known as 'Cutting Edge'. Since that time a generation in the UK has been affected by the honest and passionate worship from these five guys now known as Deliriou5?. The impact of this music, which sounds more like what is on the radio than what some have understood "Church Music" to be, is spreading around the world.
Sparrow Records has now brought the sounds of renewal coming from the "Cutting Edge" songs across the ocean through its release of the first North American Deliriou5? project, simply titled 'Cutting Edge'. A 25 song double CD/cassette project, Cutting Edge continues what will hopefully be a long life for these powerful songs in North American churches.
We had the privilege of spending some time with the five guys from Deliriou5? while they were in the United States recently and have transcribed that interview for this months feature.
The five guys making up Deliriou5? are: Martin Smith, Stewart Smith, Jon Thatcher, Tim Jupp, and Stuart Garrard (Stu G.)
WorshipTogether: How do you think the music of Deliriou5? has helped to redefine or broaden people's perception of worship or worship music?
Stuart Garrard: There are a couple of things. One, I think there is an honesty in the lyrics and the music that people identify with. In a lot of our music and songs people can really identify with them and feel like they belong. I think it is one of the things that has helped people express themselves with our music.
Another thing is the music itself. We've tried to make it to the best of our ability with sounds and vibes that we are really into. I think culturally its appeal to the younger people almost has made worship a cool thing to go to. We have found over the last couple of years that kids have started coming in droves. They [really] feel that we are one of their bands. They've got all kinds of music in their house but it's worship and praise music as well as all these observational songs.
