Verse Text: Ezekiel 47:6
He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
Ezekiel 47:9
“...so where the river flows everything will live...”
Here’s the scene. The priest, Ezekiel, has a vision of a river that flows from the temple. The measuring man, as the bible calls him, takes Ezekiel to see this river and to lead him through it. As Ezekiel begins to walk through the water, the river continues to get deeper and the current stronger. He begins just ankle-deep, then knee-deep and then up to his waist. The measuring man leads the priest out a little farther, but now it is a river that no one can cross. (v.5)You might be wondering, “What does this have to do with a worship song?” Glad you asked. The measuring man then asks an interesting question, “Son of man, do you see this?” What would you think if you were practically swimming in a river, and someone asked you, “Hey, can you see the river?” But that is the question for all of us. How many times have we missed this river of life? RiverJesus flowing strong and deep right through us, and we seldom notice.

Ezekiel’s vision is prophetic. Verse 9 states that everywhere this river goes, dead things become alive. What a vision of Jesus! In fact, this vision is linked to the last chapter of the bible, Revelation 22. From the throne of God, flows a river that brings life and healing to the nations. So I ask you the same question. “Can you see the river?” If so, let go of safe shoreline and jump in. I can see the river I can feel the river I’m letting go of all I hold on to Let it wash away I’m standing in the river And I’ll be here forever I’m letting go of everything but you Carry me away
