Psalm 95 1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD ; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. 6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; 7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. This song is inspired by Psalm 95: 1-7.... It is a call to worship. A call for all people to join in the ancient song and worship our unchanging and unfailing Lord. I know that many times we feel hindered in our worship because of our messed up lives. We have these feeble thoughts that we must have it "all together" before we can come to God and worship him. However, as we draw close to Him, the miracle happens and He draws close to us.

It is always good and encouraging to sing the principals and precepts of scripture. Whenever we use this song in a corporate setting, I love to have someone read the Psalm 95 passage. It is good to inspire our spirits by hearing and responding to the truth. "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." (John 4:23)To worship God, always requires a response. What happens on the inside of us is evident by our posture on the outside. Notice verse 6. As we come to worship, we bow down and kneel. I think this is both spiritually and physically. To bow our hearts, our affections, our entire lives before him. To kneel before our King. How long has it been since we and our congregations have actually knelt before the Lord? It is a humbling position. And humility is the key virtue of a worshiper. Pride is in direct opposition to ascribing infinite value and worth to something or someone. Humility drives us to see ourselves as we truly are and to see the greatness of our God. May God bless you as you live for His name!
